"Shattered Dreams: A Short Story" by Tyora Moddy was truly a wonderful good read. This is how a the Eugeena Patterson has been given a shock from one of the family members. Will this family be able to come together and move on with their life's after what has gone on. There had been a serious situation that has become known all the Patterson family. There is the mom and wife, Eugeena...the husband (Ralph) who was a doctor....a daugther (Leesa) and two bothers. Now what really comes to light was the big secret that really wasn't considered one however, Eugeena had kept this from her children? I know at this point you are wondering what this is all about. This was definitely a..."dysfunctional family during the week, but all smiles on Sunday when we walked into the sanctuary." Well, you only have to pick up this excellent read "Shattered Dreams: A Short Story" to just find out just want is going on with this novel.
It was truly prayer that was able to help Eugeena because only God knew she needed help. I loved the way this author was able to put it all together and present to the reader a wonderful read. I did enjoy reading "Shattered Dream: A Short Story" because it presented such a real life situation that could and I am more than sure has happened.
If you are looking for a very interesting read you have come to the right place...and I would recommend "Shattered Dream: A short Story" as a excellent read. I loved getting to know the Patterson Family and their trials. It proves that if you want it bad enough your family can heal with faith and prayer.
This short read introduces readers to Eugeena Patterson of the Eugeena Patterson mysteries, giving us a little glimpse into her background and complicated family dynamics. It was a nice, steady read that flowed well, offered some suspense, and held my attention. Enjoyed it.

Great story. But I want more. Looking forward to reading more books by this author. Looking forward to getting to know more about Eugeena.
Good but waaaay too short! Just as soon as I was comfortable getting to know each character, the prequel ended. Not enough of a teaser to keep me interested.
Eugeena Patterson finds herself becoming overwhelmed with the state of her family. She has been the peace keeper, and struggled to keep her family in tact for several years, despite her husband pulling in the opposite direction. But when her daughter's life takes a tailspin in a different direction, it ultimately forces the entire family to have to face up to their shortcomings. Everything finally comes to a head one day, after a serious car accident changes everyone's life in ways they could not have imagined.
I love this candid look into the lives of an African-American family. The message rang true, because all too often people have difficulty facing the truth in their lives. We tend to cover up what we don't want to deal with, or walk past with rose colored glasses on. Tyora Moody kept the story real and relevant to the struggles people often face in life. Great work!
Shattered Dreams is the prequel to Eugeena Patterson Mystery Series. Ralph Patterson married Eugeena in her teens, not for love but due to circumstances, and now her daughter Leesa seems to be following in her footsteps. Still mourning the death of her friend and quite possibly missing the attention from her father, Leesa finds comfort in the arms of a boy she has no business with and a new set of friends her mother wishes would disappear.
The Patterson family does a great job at ignoring obvious truths but when Leesa is hospitalized they can no longer ignore the elephant in the room. Moody uses Leesa' issue as the catalyst which jump starts the family on the road to redemption. However roads don't always lead to new beginnings.
In this short story, Moody offers some great ingredients for a good read; family issues, secrets, and loyalty for doing the right thing. I truly enjoyed Shattered Dreams and I look forward to Deep Fried Trouble.
As a bonus the first chapter of Deep Fried Trouble follows Shattered Dream.
