This book got a big build-up, so I was expecting more. The five chapters are enough. I don't want to read further. He is controlling her so much and she is like a puppet. He won't let her work. He wouldn't let her have lunch with her friends without his being there. He wouldn't even let her borrow a book from one of the women, or let her drive her home. And I think he made the sister have an "accident" because he didn't want her in the wedding party. I would not expect surprises when he has already shown how bad he is. Forget about this book. It isn't worth reading.Tags : Behind Closed Doors 5-Chapter Sampler - Kindle edition by B. A. Paris. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Behind Closed Doors 5Chapter Sampler edition by B A Paris Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This was just the sampler. i don't know if i want to go further and read the rest of it. i haven't gotten emotionally attached to the wife as of yet. i'll review the whole thing if i do end up getting the book.
I ripped right through this book. Definitely a suspense thriller. I wouldn't say the writing was fantastic but it was most certainly interesting enough to keep me turning the pages. So there you go. A few critical reviews have mentioned that some of the scenes were unbelievable, I did not find that to be the case. I enjoyed the twists and had to keep reading to find out what would happen.
I will say that if you aren't into psychological thrillers or storylines that make women seem weak and dependent, this book isn't really going to be for you. However, if you're willing to step out of your comfort zone and move past the first five chapters of this sample, the storyline's finale leaves you in shivers. Perhaps I am biased as I love stories that leave you on the edge of your seat; those nail-biting moments, the cliffhangers at the end of some chapters. They are all worth it in the crooked beauty of this battle between freedom and oppression. Yes, the story may start slow but you'll be rooting for the main character as if she is someone you know and care for.
I rarely give a book a 5 star rating, but this book is a 5 star. The story moved at a good pace, kept me interested, and it was believable.the author didn't repeat the same thing over and over saying it a different way. It didn"t go on and on describing things over and over. I really like the ending, It was a great book!
I liked this book. It was a fast read - I started one evening and finished it the next. I found Jack Angel to be disturbing and extremely sick. What is more disturbing, is the fact that some where in this big world of ours, some one is probably or has probably experienced this or something like it.
Jack's whole purpose for choosing Grace to be his wife is so he can get close to her sister, Millie. He has thought of everything to lure them into his web but what he doesn't foresee in his web of lies, is the fact that he is actually helping them set him up for failure.
I read some of the one star reviews before I bought the book, which I do with most everything I buy. I was a bit discouraged but the five star reviews were very powerful and percentage wise greatly outnumbered the negatives. Well, after just completing reading it, I can enthusiastically say this book far exceeded most books I've read along these lines over many years. He not only writes in a clear and easily understandable style, but he tells you in concise language how to achieve what he is saying.
When I began reading it at the pool, a man who saw the title stopped and said it was the best book he ever read! And he said he rereads it often since there is lot to digest. He has gifted it to a number of his friends. That is how I feel. I will reread it and I'm sure gain new insights each time I do.
The Good Can skim through large parts of the novel. Most of the novel reads like a writing assignment to stretch the beginning setup over several chapters alternating between "Past" and "Present." Same goes for the ending. Read the first and last couple of chapters, flip through the bloated middle sections, and you'd get the gist of this story just fine.
The Bad Woman, in mortal danger of her life, totally beaten down both in spirit and body by a psychopath of a husband manages to pull off a facade of normalcy and dignity for months once she decides to lay low. Incredulous.
The Ugly All characters are gross caricatures of certain archetypes the psychopath, the love-addled, clueless wife, the disabled-but-discerning sister, the suspiciously observant friend.
