An Inconvenient Marriage The Keeping of Jake Mitchell Ruth Ann Nordin Books
Sue needs money to pay her family's debts.Jake needs a wife to inherit his father's estate of lots of cash. He offers to marry her to obtain the required wife, and he offers money to pay all of her family's debts. She accepts. They marry and learn to love each other.I liked this book because it is warm, romantic without all the sordid sex scenes - though, there was some passion and sex, but it was AFTER they were married, after they had developed a close relationship, and after they fell in love.
I like the book because it actually has an interesting plot. It did not centre on sex scenes like so many books I have read recently, but emphasized the development of the relationship and love between Jake and Sue. The reader was falling inlove with both characters as the book was read.
I did not like the fact that it was so long, though. Also, it should not have been advertised as a historical novel, as the only thing historical, was the mode of transportation. It was quite fine as a modern day romance.
I would recommend it for christians and young adults as a good, clean read, that does not tarnish love, marriage and sex, but that demonstrates how a man is to treat a woman, with respect.

An Inconvenient Marriage The Keeping of Jake Mitchell Ruth Ann Nordin Books Reviews
It was a western romance with very unrealistic characters and way too much of a slapstick comedy element. Very cheesy. There were also some grammar errors (“your” instead of “you’re”). Would not recommend.
Heartwarming love story. Amazing book. I was completely drawn in and couldn't put it down. I will admit. The book was the best I've read in quite some time. I caught myself laughing out loud a few times. The author had just the right amount of chemistry and humor.
I read this whole series - all set in the late 1800's/early 1900's. Since they were "period" novels, it was my expectation that the language should align to the period represented. This requires research and attention to detail. This series constantly surprised me when the characters used language that would only have been used in more recent times. This was distracting.
Complete rubbish. No research was done to see how people lived and spoke in 1899. An anachronistic nightmare. The story is trite and cliche', and oh lets talk about the not so subtle CONSTANT biblical references. If I wanted a bible lesson, I would go to church or Sunday school, not read what is supposed to be a romance novel. There goes .99 cents and 3 hours of my life I will never get back.
This was a delightful love story. Characters were great but sometimes I got lost in the storyline. I am not sure if I will read more of this author work.
This was a cute story and I enjoyed reading it, which, I guess is the point of reading, isn't it? But the setting and plot don't seem realistic, and at times, I did think a child could have written it. Also, there were references to things like "trash bags" that I didn't understand. They didn't have trash bags in the late 1800's did they? Also, all the talk of sex (literally, the word "sex") seems out of place. And I would enjoy the book better without the explicit sex scenes. Still, I do continue to read Ms. Nordin's books because they are easy, light reading when I am tired and just want to be entertained.
It's really peculiar how different people can read a story and interpret it differently. As for the 1800's and 2000's
as to men and women things are not that much different.
To me when I read this, I was thinking as to women's worth. Jake made her feel special. That's
what most women want from THEIR man. Even years ago there were women who stayed single to be
able to do what they loved. Do you really think all the things we see today started today?
I loved the book and reading it made me feel good. I didn't care if I knew how the story ended. If
it has been a different ending, I would not have felt so GOOD.
