Kellan's and Mira's story is very emotional. It keeps you glued to each page. Each of the Breeds books is unique. If this is your first book of the Order...start from book one, you will become addicted. Lucan's and Gabrielle's story is great! In Edge of Dawn, the story deals with a younger generation of the breed...some whom you have met in earlier books. The Order has the strength and conditioning of a new era of warriors which are ever demanding and the Order needs more representation. Then there is the suspense of Bowman and his rebels and how Mira's involvement with him takes a turn for a compromising angle for all. Also, the interactions of the the Elders, JUSTIS and Atlanteans. And let's not forgetOptus Nostrun. What an entertaining novel this is! I can't wait for Crave the Night...A highly recommended series!!!

Edge of Dawn A Midnight Breed Novel The Midnight Breed Series Book 11 edition by Lara Adrian Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
I was apprehensive about the direction this series was taking at the end of the last book. Mainly, I didn't like the thought of the vamps going soft and becoming regular citizens next to the humans. Lara Adrian actually goes in a very different direction with this book... The humans and Breed work together in some ways, but the peace is very fragile.
So how does Adrian continue the series, when all of the Order males are already mated? She wrote the first few pages as Order Journal entries. In the matter of a few paragraphs, time elapses 20 years... And I have to say, it really works. I was glued to the book by these short journal entries. The war with Dragos is over, but has left his army of Gen Ones free to ravage the earth. The Order fights tooth and nail to destroy them. During the time of this desperate conflict, the humans learned to fear and despise the Breed. Peace is hanging by a thread.
The real story in this book begins after the 20 years have past. The Order couples all have children, many now old enough to fight. What I liked about this, is the fact that Adrian didn't turn her original heroes into crusty old vamps. Lucan is still in command, and still kicking butts and taking names. You won't find him just sitting behind a desk barking orders. Now parents and offspring fight the battles together. Excellent.
What I didn't enjoy as much was the story of the main hero character. It seemed pointless. In an attempt to avoid spoilers, I'll just say that the choices made by the hero caused the people who love him years of pain. It was nonsensical because he had seen into the future, and knew what those choices would bring. Instead of avoiding that fate, he threw himself straight at it. I had a hard time finding him heroic.
I am very happily still loving this series. I'm looking forward to reading Nathan's and Dare's stories.
Lara Adrian always delivers. This is one I didn't see coming. I was glad to read this novel. It was like meeting an old friend and there were plenty of twist and turns to keep it interesting. I also really enjoy when the cast of characters is expanded, it is like having old friends gathering together. Watching the characters grow up and find their strengths and weaknesses is also interesting. This novel really showed both the harshness and the deep regard that the breed have for each other as well as the willingness to let personal stuff get in the way but then to find the kernel of light that truly ignites true friendship and created the bonds of family. I was never bored. There were a few moments when I felt worried for the characters and had to close the book and then pick it up again. All in all I really enjoy this series. Thanks Lara Adrian
Creatively Twisted!
Absolutely a WOW read! I am still blown away with the whirlwind of drama that unfolds in this story. First let me say that I normally write a review without spoilers but this is one review where I cannot so if you do not like spoilers then do not read this review.
The writing is excellent of course and the drama with lots of action of the midnight breed series remains addictive with their fierce warriors and heroines. But this book goes way beyond the expected and totally messes with the readers mind leading you to think one way as in a HEA and then tragedy and then wait for it, a freakn' miracle happens - yes there will be a HEA but it comes with a twisted baggage and gives the midnight breed warriors something else to fight for. Is your mind spinning yet, well it should be. LOL
At first I wasn't too sure how this book was gonna turn out when I learned in the beginning that Kellan Archer had died and evidently Mira (Breedmate with eyes that give vision of future) was still grieving and in love with him. So at first I thought ok, so her HEA will be with Nathan (Gen One raised in lab) - NOT!
Home boy Kellan is still alive! You can just imagine Mira's surprise. In a way it kind of irritated me because she didn't seem angry enough towards him. I mean after 8 years of grieving and then everything is gonna be ok, oh hell no, home boy needs a good ass kicking and then some. LOL
Kellan (Bowman) on the other hand I thought was cowardly in the beginning because he left everything he loved behind and started a new life all because of the vision he saw in Mira's eyes. I call it cowardly because a vision is a glimps of the future and knowing you got the glimps you can always change your actions to change the future because nothing really is set in stone. But no, he ran and by his running it caused his faith to follow the path of the vision he foresaw. One word describes this and it is called DRAMA! However by the end I had warmed up to him and forgave him.
The romance between Mira and Kellan was definitely undeniable and they had a few hot steamy scenes in the book. It was really cool to see the old Breed Warriors all brought into the story and how all their children they produced were now a part of the Order carrying out missions. I have to say I like the personalities the characters were given.
But what is really neat is throughout the Midnight Breed series we learned bits and pieces from each book about their history, mainly that their ancestors were called Ancients and they came to earth to breed with human females who were offspring of an immortal race who'd built a civilization human legends would eventually call Atlantis and they bared the mark the shape of a teardrop falling into the cradle of a crescent moon.
With that in mind which I had put into the back of my mind as I read it previously and never put a thought past it but this book brings out the importance of it and is the key to the continuance of the Breed Series.
As the book ends, the so called legend immortals that supposedly produced the breedmates has now been exposed thanks to Crowe who has a group called Opus Nostrum and is one of the otherworldly fathers of the breedmates - an Atlantean whom like many others we learn survived the destruction of Atlantis and now flourish in secret plotting their own war against the Breed.
Shocking yes but now I don't know how I feel about that because now the Atlanteans are the enemies of the Breed and I love the Atlanteans or maybe just the myth of them - LOL These Atlanteans are awesome and are hard to kill, I mean the guy gets shot between the eyes and just laughs as the hole the bullet went in heals and closes up, then he gets a knife in the throat and home boy just pulls it away and laughs. The only thing that can kill them is beheading them and in this particular book that's what happens to Crowe.
My thought now though is how they will find Atlantis - thinking lots of new books for the series with all the new characters mentioned - lots of HEA's. LOL
Overall - excellent read! Can hardly wait to read the next book in the series and am especially excited to read about Nathan's (Gen One who is stone cold) story and or Darion's (Lucan and Gabriella's son) story or one of the twins story - geesh lots to look forward to.
